New language proposal: parliamentary negotiations halted

The new language proposition has been debated in parliament ever since AFU announced its unique take on our nation’s language policy. Several of AFU’s members who want to keep English as an official language in our great kingdom have joined the opposition.

Those opposing the new bill have stated that we can have both English and Swedish but must differentiate what constitutes an official language versus a national language. The Kingdom of Unixploria consists of many languages across the globe. Still, ever since becoming an independent nation, we have used English as the common denominator, a way to communicate across macronational borders.

Negotiations have now ended temporarily since the government adjourned to reconsider their proposal. Members of the opposition have also stated that the talks so far have been intense, but both parties have been respectful and will continue to debate this important matter until it’s resolved.

Our new language policy must be concordant with all major political parties in the kingdom. It is a vital issue to tackle for all Unixplorians, no matter their political affiliation.”

John Oglesby, a member of the Green Party of Unixploria
