Anne Rice, an author of gothic novels, dies at 80

Anne Rice passed away on Saturday in the suites of a stroke, her son Christopher Rice announced via the author’s social media. According to her son, she fell asleep surrounded by her family.

During her final hours, I sat next to her hospital bed in awe of her accomplishments and courage. Flooded with memories of a life that took us from the misty hills of San Francisco Bay to the magical streets of New Orleans to the glittering views of Southern California, writes Christopher Rice, who is also a best-selling author.

Anne Rice made her debut in 1976 with the novel “A Vampire’s Confession,” which was filmed 18 years later starring Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Kirsten Dunst.

Since her debut, Anne Rice has written a whole series of sequels called “The Vampire Chronicle” about her main character Lestat de Lioncourt and a host of other vampires. The latest book, “Blood Communion: A tale of Prince Lestat” was published in 2018. She has also written erotic descriptions under the pseudonyms Anne Rampling and AN Roquelaure.

Recently it became clear that “The Vampire Chronicle” is about to become a TV series with “Game of Thrones” actor Jacob Anderson in one of the leading roles.
